We have been experiencing frequent brownouts in the city. Unfortunately, in our area, no electricity = no water also. So yeah, draw.

The first two drawings are from the exercises of an art book called Drawing Class by Barrington Barber. I love that book. I’m still on the first lesson though.

I also made a new wordpress theme. It’s an opportunity to learn more about wp, those widgets and plugins, to practice cleaner codes, etc and to experience having a stiff neck and red eyes.

A few weeks ago we had a cleaning (and clearing) session in our house where we got rid of so many papers from college years. I checked everything, saved the programming notes and my mother suddenly handed me a clear book of my old drawings. I was a bit surprised, I actually did compile them some 3 years ago, maybe.

And these are just those anime drawings that I scanned and submitted to deviantart years ago. Some were funny, some were stiffly drawn, but they all have shiny hair! Wow i envy them, and some papers were full of hands, yeah because it’s quite hard to draw (real normal looking) hands for me. So i would always hide those hands…

It’s nice to see them, they remind me of my dream of being an artist. But now, although I’m still an anime fan, I would want to focus on illustration. Yes like those children’s books.

Just like this one drawing that i found, mice or whatever damaged the paper spared the kids and the teacher. I want to illustrate those moments, just like what a good camera can do. If you’ll observe the picture above, in a class picture, there are so many stories, one seems to be sleeping (just like me in pictures), one is super smiling, one looks normal, one is serious, you can know who are the troublesome boys, etc. etc. I would like to make more similar illustrations.

First update for August. =) I accompanied my friend to the mall for her to find a pair of Charcoal sandals. She definitely took home a good pair (they look simply durable and stylish.) She had this gift check and used my SM advantage card (which we’ve been neglecting already.) Anyway, we did a lot of window shopping and had some to-do ideas along the way. I’ve drawn some. I have this favorite store to SPY ON (harhar), but I don’t intend to copy, just collecting ideas.

POLYMER CLAY

I’m really in the mood for arts and crafts now, I’ve been planning things on my mind and sometimes on paper. One of which is polymer clay-ing. I’ve been researching about the materials (and yeah, i need an oven, i think oven toaster will do.) We’ve passed by BookSale and i grabbed this:

I bought a craft magazine, Bead Style. Although there are many free tutorials online, i still prefer the tangible one.

BLOG DESIGN

I’m really getting tired of this wordpress theme. So,one of these days, you’ll see a new theme here. I’ll rearrange this, the sidebar is really messy. =)

It is frustrating to come up with uneven and crooked, overall un imperfect stitches. I wish i had a nicer sewing machine that can sew through steel. Anyway the violet stuffed bag is almost finished too.

Even my photoshop-cropping was so off. Anyway, i still came up with a bag. As expected, i hand-sewn more parts of it. I’m overall happy with it, i can also use it as a pillow. i’ll just try to improve my skills and make something useful for the next project.

I thought of formally learning to sew, like a workshop or class. It would be cool to learn pattern-making, to sew and design my own clothes, so i’ll always be different as i want to be. Definitely not on my top priorities right now, it just crossed my mind.

Researching online through Stumbleupon, i found online tutorials. I’m not really a fan of sewing tutorials, but maybe if i’ll have a lot of spare time, i can learn from them.

Yesterday, after having my questions answered, i applied for a home-based part-time job, then tomorrow, me and my high school friend will apply for another job… It’s quite exciting but not as much as book or fabric hunting.

Finally, an update. I thought of starting the tote bag (to be given to my mother). After 3 days of on/off working on it, maybe a total of 5 hours, It’s now 98% done. I just need to secure the stitches at the sides, then put Velcro to open and close the bag.

It was easy, but still requires a lot of patience. Since I mastered the basic tote bag, for the next project, i can put some style into it.

In my last post, i mentioned about the padded bag, it’s almost finished too. But, i don’t see myself working on a similar kind of bag anytime soon, because, it was sooo hard (for me and my sewing machine) and I’ve done a lot of errors = lessons learned.

Again, this is a HOBBY BLOG. =)

Bought some sewing stuff last Friday. 6 fabrics (1m or yard? each), black and white velcro/hooks and loops (2m) and zippers for Php400+.

Now before making a tote bag, i decided to make a simple bag. But it ended up being quite complicated to sew, with the machine being unable sew thick pieces together (so my hands were substitutes). It was a stuffed bag and it is still unfinished. Preview:

I’ve mentioned in my plurk that i was looking for something cheap to purchase online just for the experience of buying online using Paypal. I bought a pair of earrings on ebay.ph.

I’m going to make a tote bag for my mother (her request) but i don’t have any experience with sewing a bag (or anything, just shirt holes and plushies) and I was afraid to ruin the fabric. I decided to make a small tote (the size of a cellphone bag) with a little help from some sewing blogs -they are inspiration.

The pouch was stitched by the machine while the handles and the top lining was hand-sewn.

I just realized that… I really love sewing! I would like to sew a real bag, doll or something really useful for my next sewing project.

New Layout. A trial layout that sucks in ie (and prob. in other browsers =P), after almost 9 months. boatsong.net is expiring in a few months, hehe. I have to find a new home. But I’m jobless=broke as of now, so I’ll probably rely on my Paypal account. Chocolate + Making a WordPress Theme is a nice combination.

Speaking of the background, thanks to Squid Fingers for the cute background pattern.

I really really like the ideas of sewing, crocheting, knitting, plushie-making, amigurimis, and the likes. Since i don’t have much to blog about, I’ve decided to blog about those things. I also would like to have an online store (maybe in a year?) yey, dream big. I’m happy to know what i want.

I must know how to cook too.
